Saturday:
Linnie and Ben were supposed to come down this morning and tour Garden of the Gods state park, but it was raining and the forecast for the rest of the weekend was terrible. I called her to deliver the bad news and although she was on her way, she hadn’t left town. Wisely, she decided to cancel.
After lunch, there was a small break in the weather, so we decided to try to tour the Olympic training facility. We took a guided tour of the gyms and grounds and stopped to watch the synchcronized swim team practice. It was interesting and the rain held off just long enough.

We then tried to go to the figure skating museum, but it had closed a few minutes earlier, so we returned to the RV and enjoyed the sounds of rain on the roof all evening.
July 9, Sunday:
We went to the Garden of the Gods, even though the weather was cloudy and threatening rain. We lucked out again and managed to tour the area with only a few sprinkles. They have a fantastic visitor center explaining the red rock geology. We drove through the park and did a short one-mile walk among the rocks. The park was extremely busy and people were everywhere! We found a nice spot for a picnic lunch and finished just as it started to rain and then it poured for hours.

July 10, Monday:
Up early today to blue skies, so we headed directly to


On the return down the mountain, we took a very steep dirt road detour to a picnic area next to a reservoir. While eating our lunch watching the fishermen, a few mule deer walking along the shore entered the water and pranced about in the lake - we didn’t know deer liked to play in the water.
